Dimbula is one of the most famous Tea growing region in Ceylon as it is considered the prime tea planting district in the country.The district receives the south western monsoonal rains which has an impact on the quality of the Dimbula Tea . The cold nights and dry weather from January to March bring about a rage of teas from full bodied to light delicate flavor in different valleys of the District.

Mattakelle Estate with an extent of 361.96Ha is situated on an elevation of around 1372 m (4500ft) above sea level in NuwaraEliya District in the heart of the Dimbula Planting Region.
